Unfortunately, as we’ve stated numerous times, the developers (namely p0sixninja and the evad3rs) will not release an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak. Instead, the hackers will hold off on issuing a new untethered jailbreak utility until Apple pushes iOS 7 out to the public this fall. The question that remains now is whether or not iOS 7 is worth the upgrade – find out in this iOS 7 versus jailbreaking article.

Will iDevice Jailbreaking Continue With The Release Of iOS 7?

The fact that Apple’s new iOS 7 “Control Center” offers near identical functionality to the wildly popular SBSettings Cydia tweak that’s been available, and has evolved tremendously over the years, is no coincidence. Following iOS 7′s public unveiling during Apple’s keynote presentation at their annual World Wide Developers conference, the members of Evasion Jailbreak and our colleagues couldn’t help but notice how many features Apple “borrowed” from the jailbreak community.

Additionally, other improvements to iOS 7, such as “3D” backgrounds, Siri’s newfound ability to control system settings and the changes to multitasking and folders are only a handful of the new features found in iOS 7 that Apple added after receiving inspiration from the world of jailbreaking. It certainly isn’t a secret that Apple has made a habit of introducing updates to iOS that previously existed as Cydia tweaks – however, do all the new additions in iOS 7 mean that jailbreaking will no longer remain prevalent?

After spending some time with iOS 7 on my main iPhone 5, I’ve determined that jailbreaking is still a must and will continue far beyond the days of iOS 7. Until Apple allows the user root access, which will likely never happen, jailbreaking will continue to thrive. After all, it’s the idea of completely customizing iOS to one’s likings that has made jailbreaking so popular and Apple knows that. In spite of the company’s countless attempts to thwart jailbreaking, they know that if their users can add new features to their devices that aren’t there out of the box, their sales will increase; it’s as simple as that.

As always, thank you for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to our iCrackUriDevice published an updated semi UnTethered jailbreak guide for the new firmware using a simple RedSn0w workaround. Unfortunately, because the Untethered exploits employed by Evasion are patched in iOS 6.1.3, this jailbreak remains exclusive to A4-powered devices and is Tethered by default, which we’ll explain later. If you own a newer iDevice on a previous version of iOS 6, including 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2, we strongly advise following our evasi0n jailbreak tutorial, as it includes untethered support for all devices.

As mentioned above, the Redsn0w Jailbreak is compatible with, and can jailbreak, the following iPhone and iPod touch models running iOS 6.1.3.

iPhone 4 (both GSM and CMDA models)

iPhone 3GS

iPod touch 4th generation

While the following newer iDevices are incompatible with this 6.1.3 jailbreak, they are still able to be jailbroken on all previous versions of iOS 6, even 6.1.2, using evasion.

iPhone 5

iPhone 4S

iPad mini

iPod touch 5th generation

iPad 4 powered by Apple’s A6X chip and Retina display

iPad 3

iPad 2

Furthermore, even though it’s possible to use redsn0w on 6.1.3, iPhone and iPod touch owners will only be able to jailbreak using what’s referred to as a “Tethered Jailbreak”. Consequently, devices jailbroken using this method will require Redsnow to boot into their fully jailbroken state every time they power off. However, it is possible to install what’s known as a semi Tethered or a Semi UnTethered jailbreak on iOS 6.1.3 after completing this tutorial. This will allow the iPhone or iPod touch to reboot without the assistance of a computer with limited functionality. If you’ve previously jailbroken using a tethered version of redsn0w, jailbreaking 6.1.3 should be easy for you. Important Jailbreak Prerequisite

Before continuing with this semi Untethered jailbreak tutorial, ensure that you have the following:

An older iDevice (remember, only the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch 4G are supported) running the latest iOS 6.1.3 firmware from Apple.

The RedSnow 0.9.15b3 jailbreak utility and your device’s corresponding 6.0 firmware file.

Additionally, while mentioned above, it’s worth reiterating that this is a Tethered jailbreak, which requires additional effort on your part and doesn’t support newer iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models. If at all possible, we recommend staying on a lower iOS 6 firmware and jailbreaking with evasion – iOS 6.1.2 is ideal because it’s the latest firmware supported by evasi0n.

How to Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Semi UnTethered Using Redsn0w

Step 1: Download Redsn0w from our download section, which is linked below, to ensure that you have an authentic version of the tool.

Step 2: Once Redsnow has been successfully downloaded, if you’re on Windows, right click the utility, set compatibility mode to Windows XP Service Pack 2 and grant the program administrative privileges. Mac users needn’t worry about compatibility, as practically all versions of OS X can use the utility immediately after downloading it.

Step 3: Run Redsn0w and click Extras, followed by Select IPSW. In the pop-up window, simply point Redsnow at the iOS 6.0 IPSW, not 6.1.3. After the firmware has been successfully identified, click the Back button to return to the main Redsn0w menu.

Step 4: Click the Jailbreak button, ensure that the option to, Install Cydia was checked by default and continue to the next screen. At this point, Redsn0w suggests turning your device off to enter DFU mode, although it’s possible to bypass this stage of the jailbreak entirely by entering DFU mode ahead of time.

Step 5: To enter Device Firmware Update mode, simply connect your iPhone or iPod touch via a standard 30-pin USB cable, press and hold both the home and power buttons for a total of ten seconds. Once ten seconds has passed, release the power button and continue to hold the home button for an additional ten to fifteen seconds.

Step 6: If you’ve entered DFU mode correctly, Redsnow will automatically proceed. Simply wait for the process to complete and for your jailbroken device to reboot, after it has, you’ll need to boot Tethered.

<iframe

As the majority of our readers are already aware, when iOS 6.1.3 was issued to the public, the firmware corrected a number of vulnerabilities that evasion exploits to achieve an Untethered iOS 6.0 through 6.1.2 jailbreak. Although the hackers on the iOS scene aren’t planning on releasing a 6.1.3 jailbreak, they are developing tools for future iOS 7 firmwares.

Pod2g Updated To iOS 7 And P0sixninja Hints At Bootrom iOS 7 Jailbreak

With today’s news of pod2g updating to iOS 7, the fact that the hacker will work on creating a new jailbreak is indisputable. After all, it was pod2g himself who confirmed the evad3rs plans to release an updated utility for an upcoming “major [iOS] release”.

Of course, while the hackers won’t release an updated jailbreak utility for iOS 6.1.3, as the firmware isn’t substantial enough, they’ll certainly issue a public utility sometime after iOS 7 is released to the public and the next iPhone is launched sometime this fall.

Additionally, p0sixninja (former leader of the Chronic Dev Team and prominent hacker) sent a rather interesting tweet to his followers, in which he stated the following, “… redsn0w sucks. I wish someone would make something better ”.

Previously, p0sixninja stated that he plans on developing a new bootrom-based jailbreak, which just so happens to be the type of jailbreak redsn0w is. For those of you who are unaware, a bootrom jailbreak takes advantage of a hardware exploit that’s impossible for Apple to patch without releasing entirely new devices, which is why the exploits that power redsn0w have survived since 2010.

Without reading too much into it, p0sixninja’s latest tweet may be an indication of what’s to come for the future of jailbreaking and, if that’s the case, it will certainly solidify the jailbreak community for years to come.

Thank you for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to our <a

It’s certainly safe to say that without jailbreaking, the iOS community wouldn’t be nearly as strong as it is today. However, not all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch owners can simply jailbreak – when Apple released iOS 6.1.3, they effectively patched the evasion jailbreak, which functioned on all devices running iOS 6.0 through 6.1.2. Furthermore, the iOS 6.1.4 iPhone 5 exclusive release didn’t change much, other than adding a layer of device fragmentation and solidifying the public’s inability to jailbreak 6.1.3 and the latest 6.1.4 exclusive firmware. Now, with this week’s demo of iOS 7, the jailbreak community has something to look forward to: the promise of another untethered jailbreak past 6.1.3.

6.1.3 Jailbreak Situation And Future iOS 7 Untethered Utility

Previously, both p0sixninja (quondam leader of the once-prominent Chronic Dev Team) and the evad3rs (the skilled hackers behind the development of evasion) have confirmed their plans to develop utilities to carry us in to the next era of jailbreaking – an era that’s dominated by the next major installment to iOS.

iOS 7 is, and will be, an entirely different beast than past versions of the mobile operating system. It looks, feels and performs differently than even its direct predecessor: iOS 6. If you have yet to read our in-depth iOS 7 analysis article with an embedded features overview video, we highly recommend doing so, as you’ll likely be left in awe from the number of vast changes, revisions and improvements.

Although the first beta version of iOS 7 was issued to developers shortly after the firmware’s unveiling on Monday, the hackers on the jailbreak scene won’t release the next untethered utility until iOS 7 has been officially released to the public. Moreover, the hackers will also want to ensure that, at the very least, the next iPhone is released prior to pushing out a new jailbreak. Luckily, Apple has already confirmed that iOS 7 will be available to the public this fall, which will most likely coincide with the next iPhone’s release.

As always, thank you for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to our Today, during Apple’s annual World Wide Developers conference, the company gave the public a taste of iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks (the next major installment to the Mac operating system) during their typical WWDC opening keynote presentation. Although the presentation was available for live streaming via Apple’s site or through the Apple TV, we’ll briefly summarize the future of iOS for you on Evasion Jailbreak in this article. As we, the members of Evasion Jailbreak, watched the keynote, we couldn’t help but wonder how Apple could introduce so many incredible features and still have room for future additions. In short, iOS 7 adds a vast number of incredible feature that were undoubtedly inspired by jailbreaking.

iOS 7′s Shocking Redesign, 3D Interface, Control Center And More

First, let’s discuss the design. In an effort to flatten the look of iOS, Apple engineers and design artists have introduced a cleaner and flatter interface with hints of translucency to add a more customized feel. App icons shift when the device is tilted to allow for a look at the spaces of your wallpaper that would otherwise be covered. Additionally, certain menus are somewhat transparent to add a unique feel and even the keyboard has adopted a new see through look.

Beyond the complete and total redesign, Apple has added some really incredible and useful features to iOS with the introduction of the seventh installment to their mobile operating system.

Notification Center now has a three tabbed view, with an overview of recent notifications for the current day, viewed notifications and notifications that have yet to be viewed. Furthermore, Apple even brought Notification Center to the lock screen. Speaking of the lock screen, it’s completely revamped and more simplistic than in past versions of iOS.

In addition to Notification Center, iOS 7 will bring a new, and much-needed, feature to users: Control Center. The new Control Center feature will allow users to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access quick settings and toggles and even an LED flashlight that’s built into the system.

Siri has also been greatly improved. Aside from adding higher quality voices, Apple has also crammed a slew of new features into the personal assistant. Siri can now do things like control system functions, such as adjusting the brightness/toggling settings, look up images and much more.

In line with the complete and total system-wide overhaul, iOS Multitasking now looks fantastic – they way it should have from the beginning, with large overviews of the apps currently running in the background. Furthermore, multitasking is now enabled for all apps while still maintaining “great battery life”. iOS will intelligently determine which apps you use frequently and update accordingly, fetching only the information you need.

Similar to OS X, the introduction of AirDrop for iOS will allow users to easily and conveniently share files and images with individuals around them without the need to initiate the technology via something like NFC.

Both the Camera and Photos apps have been re-imagined, with four different camera modes that can be easily accessed by simply swiping across the screen, realtime photo filters, improved categorization and organization of images and much more.

Instead of having to manually launch the App Store and install app updates, applications in iOS 7 will update automatically.

iTunes Radio will allow iDevice users to discover new music, similar to existing services like Pandora and Slacker radio. It’s free, and for iTunes Match subscribers, the service is devoid of ads and is completely customizable.

Aside from the number of vast improvements and additions listed above, iOS 7 introduces anti-theft options that require the original iCloud account associated with the device for use once the device is reported as lost, a complete redesign of every stock app, the ability to block numbers and so much more. Finally, we highly recommend watching iCrackUriDevice’s

With this radical and somewhat shocking re-creation of the entire operating system, will jailbreaking remain prevalent? Let us know what you think in the comment section and, as always, thank you for reading.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our On Monday, June 10th, Apple will hold their annual World Wide Developers Conference (also referred to as WWDC) at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. During this year’s conference Apple is expected to reveal both OS 10.9 and iOS 7, which will be the next firmware that the evad3rs and p0sixninja develop a new UnTethered jailbreak utility for. However, in spite of tomorrow’s unveiling of iOS 7, Apple won’t officially release the new firmware to the public until some time later this year. Consequently, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch owners who have updated to Apple’s latest firmware (iOS 6.1.3 or 6.1.4 in the case of the iPhone 5) will be unable to jailbreak until after iOS 7 is officially released.

WWDC 2013, iOS 7 – Evasion Jailbreak

Although Apple previously unveiled past iPhone models at their annual Developers Conference, it’s unlikely the company will do so this year, as the past two iPhone models were both announced and released in the fall.

In light of the fact mentioned above, it’s safe to say that WWDC 2013′s main attraction will be iOS 7 and OS 10.9. However, recently there’s been talk of numerous Mac updates being announced during the event and even other unlikely products, like Apple’s supposed iWatch.

While Evasion Jailbreak won’t have live coverage of the event, we highly recommend BestTechInfo’s WWDC post, which will go live at 10 AM Pacific Time (1 PM Eastern). If you happen to be in a different time zone, <a

Additionally, we’ll have detailed coverage on the future of iOS after the event’s keynote presentation concludes – stay tuned.

Thank you for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to our While the day jailbreaking is officially over will certainly be one filled with sorrow, that day is far from us. Every year Apple patches various UnTethered iOS jailbreak utilities released by numerous hackers on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch jailbreak scene, and every year people immediately assume the worst following the correction of the vulnerabilities that allowed for said jailbreak utilities. Although the release of iOS 6.1.3 permanently compromised the evasion jailbreak utility’s ability to function, the latest firmware is by no means the harbinger of an era without jailbreaking.

iOS 7 Jailbreak In Development Stages, 6.1.3 Isn’t The End

In spite of the fact that newer iDevice owners who are on iOS 6.1.3 (or even 6.1.4 in the case of some iPhone 5 owners) are no longer able to jailbreak, future tools will allow them to once again break free from the software restrictions set in place by Apple.

Moreover, as we’ve stated before, both p0sixninja and the evad3rs plan to develop new Untethered jailbreak utilities for future iOS 7 firmwares. The developers and hackers are simply waiting to release the next jailbreak to ensure maximum compatibility, a practice that has continued since the complexity of the required exploits increased exponentially around the days of iOS 4.

Although it may seem like a long wait, the next jailbreak will be worth it. Instead of the hackers issuing a tool for iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4, both of which are incredibly minor updates, the same exploits will go toward developing a jailbreak for iOS 7 and new devices like the iPhone 5S, which should be released alongside the firmware this fall.

As usual, thank you for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to our Today, only one week away from Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference (commonly referred to as WWDC), the company released a new WWDC app for iOS to assist those attending the conference and to provide videos. As I’m sure the majority of our readers are already aware, during the event, Apple plans to unveil iOS 7 to the world. Moreover, as stated in one of our recent articles, iOS 7 is a prerequisite for the next major UnTethered jailbreak utility. Unfortunately, those who either mistakenly updated to one of Apple’s latest firmwares (6.1.3 and 6.1.4) or purchased their iDevice recently will simply have to wait until the days of iOS 7 before jailbreaking is, once again, a possibility.

WWDC 2013 App Suggests iOS 7 Redesign And Jailbreak Details

Back to Apple’s latest WWDC app, this year’s iteration of the utility will allow those who are registered through one or more of Apple’s Developer programs to watch daily session videos from the conference. It’s also the first time Apple will make the videos available to Developers during the actual conference.

Additionally, in line with rumors regarding iOS 7′s supposed “flat” design, the icon for the new WWDC app may resemble Apple’s iOS graphical overhaul. The Apple logo on the icon is lacking the traditional glossy appearance we’ve become so familiar with over the years.

As for those of you who are wondering about the next public jailbreak tool, p0sixninja and the evad3rs are planning to wait until iOS 7′s official release before pushing a new utility out. While the future of iOS will be revealed one week from today, registered Apple iOS Developers are the select few who will be able to experience iOS 7 until its release, which will likely be this fall. Of course, stay tuned for in-depth coverage on everything related to jailbreaking and the news that will inevitably precede the release of any future utility.

As always, thank you for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to our Here at Evasion Jailbreak, the most commonly asked questions we receive are related to iOS 6.1.3, 6.1.4 and jailbreaking. While news related to the subject has been almost non-existent lately, we now have some interesting news to share with our readers. At the end of March, famed hacker p0sixninja (quondam leader of the Chronic Dev Team and an instrumental contributor to the development of a number of jailbreak utilities) confirmed his solo efforts to create the next UnTethered jailbreak for the upcoming iOS 7 firmware. As we’ve stated numerous times, p0sixninja will hold off on releasing a utility until the days of iOS 7 simply because 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 aren’t substantial enough updates to warrant the use of additional vulnerabilities that could otherwise be saved for future firmwares and devices.

P0sixninja Discovers iOS 7 Jailbreak Exploits

However, with that said, p0sixninja sent a few interesting tweets to his followers on Twitter last night. The first tweet of interest was a link to a brief video that demonstrated a rather interesting kernel exploit in OS X that causes a kernel panic when executed. Although that may not sound relevant to jailbreaking, the exploit may also affect iOS!

In the video that p0sxininja linked to, the recorded text mentions that they also discovered another vulnerability that doesn’t require root access to function, meaning it may be useful in the development of a new jailbreak utility. Other tweets between p0sxininja and @dent1zt reveal that they’ve discovered three new vulnerabilities.

The last thing of interest from p0sixninja is his most recent tweet, in which he states that he has to “finish up code signing exploit, and iOS7 will be mine”.

In years past, Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference (commonly referred to as WWDC) has played host to numerous unveilings, including both software and hardware. In fact, up until the iPhone 4S, new iterations of the iPhone were unveiled during the conference. However, in an effort to focus on developers, Apple separated the iPhone portion of the conference these past two years and held separate press events to specifically showcase the iPhone. During this years conference, Apple is scheduled to unveil iOS 7. In this post, we’ll discuss the next major iOS installment, iOS 6.1.3 and the future of jailbreaking.

iOS 7, WWDC 2013 And The Future Of Jailbreaking

As the majority of our readers are already well aware, with the release of iOS 6.1.3, Apple closed a number of vulnerabilities that were previously exploited by evasi0n to achieve an Untethered jailbreak, effectively patching the tool for devices on the latest firmware. Since iOS 6.1.3′s release we’ve written a number of articles detailing why the evad3rs and p0sixninja aren’t planning to develop a new jailbreak utility to accommodate 6.1.3 and the iPhone 5-exclusive 6.1.4.

While the hackers aren’t creating another jailbreak for the latest firmware, this is by no means the end of jailbreaking. In fact, the jailbreak community faces the same cat and mouse game with Apple every year. As the vulnerabilities that power the jailbreak utilities become harder to discover and exploit, the developers will release tools less frequently. In an effort to ensure maximum compatibility, the next untethered jailbreak will not be released until the days of iOS 7.

In light of that fact, we’re going to provide a detailed timeline that gives a rough estimate of when the next jailbreak may be released.

On June 10th, Apple will kick off WWDC with a keynote presentation, during which the company will unveil iOS 7 and release the first beta to registered Apple developers shortly after. While it’s certainty a possibility that Apple will also unveil the next iPhone during this year’s conference, it’s more likely that they’ll wait until fall. Once both iOS 7 and the next iPhone are released to the public, the hackers of the jailbreak scene will release the next UnTethered jailbreak.

Thank you for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to our <a
