iOS 6.1 Untethered Evasi0n Jailbreak Updated to Version 1.2, Cydia Update Available

Untethered Evasi0n iOS 6.1 Jailbreak Utility Updated to Version 1.2, Cydia Update Available - Following the release of evasi0n 1.1, recently, the Evad3rs silently updated the jailbreak (iOS 6 through 6.1.2) utility to version 1.2. The previous revision was issued to address a bug that caused unusually long reboot times and corrected a problem affecting the default Weather app, which should no long crash upon launch. Aside from ironing out smaller bugs, the new version also disables the daemons responsible for running Apple’s over-the-air (OTA) update feature.

In addition to preventing the Settings app from notifying users when iOS 6.1.1 is released to the public, the new update will allow for a more fluid jailbreak experience and correct a known issue related to automatic date and time settings. If you have yet to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2 or 6.1, we strongly advice that you follow our in-depth jailbreak tutorial, which contains the updated download links for Evasi0n 1.2 found on our download page.

If you have an iDevice that’s already been jailbroken using a previous version of evasion, there’s no need to download the updated utility and re-jailbreak. To apply the revisions to your iOS device, simply open Cydia, let it refresh and download the updated data, navigate to the Changes section and install the evasi0n 6.0-6.1 Untether 0.3-1 update.

Once the update is installed, your jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch or iPad should no longer experience any major issues and will not automatically prompt you to update when Apple issues iOS 6.1.1. If you find this to be a reason for concern, it might ease your mind knowing that Apple has automatically blocked OTA updates for jailbroken devices, effectively making the feature useless.
